[SportDriving] Feb 18 or 19...

I'm in - I think. I have to check my schedule but I think it's clear as far as I can remember. I need to do a fun drive. I'm good with the Big Sur loop as that sounds pretty fun. I haven't been down to Nepenthe for awhile either.

THe mt ham run is good but it really beats up on us flexi-flyer convertible drivers so I'd rather go for something a bit smoother and maybe different from what I've running lately.

I'm really up for any of the drives though as I just need to get out and driving. Just remember all that Feb 18/19 is the weekend after Valentine's day so some people may have plans that they can't get out of just to go play with their cars.

Me and my "Isetta" are ready to roll.

If we're voting though my personal preferences are:
  1) Big Sur loop
  2) Doc Wong Route
  3) North Bay route
  4) Mt. Hamilton
  5) 2 day trip

I figure the 2 day trip might be nice if the weather is really sunny though.

  Aleks

We could always do the 'big sur loop'....

McKean > Uvas > Watsonville > Hecker Pass > back roads down to 156 > 1 south > Lunch @ Nepenthe (restaurant just south of Big Sur)..

...continue south ~25 miles to Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd > Through Fort Hunter Liggett > 101 N approx 11 miles to Arroyo-Seca Rd > Carmel Valley Rd back to 1N...

It's a loong drive (approx 320mi from SJ).

Alternatively, something shorter (~150mi), like the "Doc Wong route" through the Santa Cruz Mtns (Kings Cyn > Tunitas Creek > 1 > Stage Rd > 84 > Cloverdale > Gazos Creek > 1 > lunch in Davenport > Bonny Doon Rd > Empire Grade > Jamison Creek > 9.

Or the tried and true Mt Hamilton / Mines / Del Puerto Cyn (~100mi via Mines, 150mi via Del Puerto Cyn)

Or something in the north bay... 101 up to San Anselmo... then Fairfax-Bolinas Rd > 1S > Panoramic Hwy up Mt Tam... Lots more traffic up there though (~150mi).

Or there's always 2 day drives.. stuff like... 101N > Lucas Valley Rd > 1N, lunch in Bodega Bay > Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Rd (one of my favorite roads in the whole state) > dinner/hotel in Healdsberg > wake up and drive Skaggs back and forth once more > 101N > 175E > 29S > lunch/dinner in Napa > home... (~550mi)...

Thoughts? :)
