So, you'd be interested if we were doing the SCruz Mtns route.    Since you didn't see the original email, these were the top 2 route contenders:

McKean > Uvas > Watsonville > Hecker Pass > back roads down to 156 > 1 south > Lunch @ Nepenthe (restaurant just south of Big Sur)..
...continue south ~25 miles to Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd > Through Fort Hunter Liggett > 101 N approx 11 miles to Arroyo-Seca Rd > Carmel Valley Rd back to 1N...

It's a loong drive (approx 320mi from SJ).

Alternatively, something shorter (~150mi), like the "Doc Wong route" through the Santa Cruz Mtns (Kings Cyn > Tunitas Creek > 1 > Stage Rd > 84 > Cloverdale > Gazos Creek > 1 > lunch in Davenport > Bonny Doon Rd > Empire Grade > Jamison Creek > 9.


Jeff R, if you'd be willing to do #2 but not #1, we can do #2 :).
