[SportDriving] Did some recon

Hey all,
I did some recon on Mt. Hamilton and Mines yesterday and it was a blast. I took my old V-Dub out for a stroll in the "park" and the roads were great. I actually ended up chasing down a Buell (maybe an S1 or S2 Lightning) down San Antonio Road but he kept holding me up - what a moron.
The V-Dub was definitely a handful but it kept me on my toes. I figured that if a motorcycle was holding me up I couldn't have been doing too badly though. The guy DID know how to ride by the way but he just wouldn't let me by.
Anyway, the roads were fairly clean and I only experienced one "oops" moment going into a fast left hand sweeper that ended up having some gravel towards the outside. Once my turbo spooled and the power hit (it's not a gentle power curve) there was a slightly violent slide which I was able to reel back in luckily. So after I pulled my underwear back out I went along my merry way with no other incidents.
Should be a blast folks. Hope to see you all out there.

Okay "speed" freaks it looks like we're on for a Livermore to Patterson run next Sunday. I would like to start fairly early so realistically I think it would be best to meet at 9:00 AM at Starbucks in Livermore on Vasco Rd.
Directions to Starbucks:
Take 680 N to 580 East (towards Tracy)
Take the Vasco Rd exit and stay to the right of the exit
Take Vasco Rd South (or Right on Vasco Rd)
About 1-2 lights down Starbucks is on the right hand side sort of behind a gas station. It may be easy to miss since it is set a bit back from the main road but it's there.
>From Starbucks, once we all arrive (we don't want to wait too long for everyone so try to show up on time) we'll head down Vasco to Mines and fun, fun, fun.
Here are the players that have confirmed so far:
Aleks - 350Z (but I might just take my VW)
Ilan - (that is ILAN btw) Mazdaspeed Protege
Nick - MR2 Turbo
Roy - Volvo S60R (auto)
Cynthia - Volvo S60R (manual - like a real "sports" car should be)
Joe Pham - BMW 330Ci
Tentative:
Clay - 93 LT-1 Corvette (good to have some American muscle in the mix)
Remember that this is going to be a fun drive and we aren't racing for points a trophy or anything else. Okay, maybe for the glory but hey that's entirely different. If any of you outrun me my excuse is that the metal in my left leg (clutch leg) was really acting up and I couldn't shift well through all the pain.
Does anyone want to grab breakfast before Starbizzies? For those on this side of the hill, I "may" decide to run over Mt. Hamilton to get more driving in but that means starting HELLA early and I'm still trying to figure out what "hella" means. I figure leaving around 7 to make it on time but the driving on the back side of Mt. Hamilton is worth getting up early for.
Hope to see you all soon.
Aleks
