I agree with Robert.  Most of us work, and there are times we simply can't take the time off.  Unfortunately, I couldn't be there today either, even though I wanted to be.  

We need to find a better way to show our opposition/support for things happening in our neighborhood.  

Perphaps we need to appoint a small committee to deal with emergency issues and petitions.  This issue came up too quickly for the membership to handle, if we were to abide by our bylaws.  Perhaps we can gather a list of phone numbers from neighbors (members and non-members) so that when something like this comes up again, a small group of us can make the calls to see who is interested in signing a petition.  We can gather the signatures and present it to the council. 

Let's plan on discussing it at tomorrow night's meeting.
